Victorian Grace meets Modern Entertainment

Beautiful Victorian tiled hallway, medieval oak beams, original old wooden staircase rising at a stately pace: these are the delights awaiting you at Cholwell Hall. There’s a huge lounge with lots of space for a party. This room also has table tennis, pool, table football, karaoke and a central stone fireplace that can be lit in winter months to bring the room alive.

Formal Dining for 30+ Guests

On the opposite side of the hall is the grand dining room. With its smart oak tables and chairs and classy décor this room is ideal for a formal dinner, and can seat 30+ diners.

A Spacious Kitchen

The kitchen has seating at one end an excellent range of units and equipment at the other. It has a flagstone floor, stove, belfast sinks, gas cooking and all the crockery, cutlery, and utensils that your group is likely to want. There is a gas double oven and hob, microwave, a fridge for drinks and another for food, a freezer and a dishwasher. Your booking will be self-catering, but many groups prefer the luxury of outside caterers, so ask us for recommendations.

Plan Your Perfect Group Getaway

Your group can enjoy the acre of landscaped grounds, and if you want something energetic why not hire in games such as bungee-run, gladiator etc? The choices are endless.

Off-site there are many activities nearby such as quad-biking, paint-balling and spa/pampering; and within half an hour are the heritage-rich cities of Bath, Bristol and Wells. Our bookings secretary Lucy will be happy to suggest contacts to help you with group activities, corporate hospitality, entertainment, or music.

Layout of bedrooms

Each of the 10 bedrooms has a good view, looking out over the well maintained and landscaped gardens to the traditional pastures beyond.

The bedding is very good quality, and the mattresses are comfortable being mainly pocket-sprung. There are 5 double beds and 18 single beds, but if preferred these can be arranged as 4 doubles and 20 singles by unzipping the large bed in Foxglove bedroom. The beds are arranged in the rooms as follows:

On the first floor: Laburnum – a double and a single bed; Foxglove – 3 single beds (OR one single and a king-size); Bluebell – a double and 3 single beds. These three bedrooms are large, and each has an ensuite bathroom. Also on the first floor are Lilac – 2 singles; Heather – 4 singles; Phlox – 2 singles; Roses – 2 singles. Two further bathrooms are on this floor.

On the second floor are three bedrooms. One has a double bed, another room has a double and a single, and the third room is smaller with adult sized bunk beds. This floor also has a bathroom.
The six bathrooms each have a bath with shower over and high quality fittings. The bedrooms and the bathrooms are individually decorated.

For flexibility in sleeping arrangements 4 fold-away beds can be supplied. These have to be pre-arranged with our bookings secretary, and a charge is normally made. The fold-away beds are normally deployed in the three largest rooms of the first floor (Bluebell, Foxglove, and Laburnum).

We chose Cholwell Hall for my brothers stag do, as we needed a place that could house 20 people. The booking process was so seamless and nothing was too much trouble for them.

On arrival we were greeted by Ian, who gave a very thorough tour of the house and explained everything that we could possibly need to know.

The house itself is absolutely stunning both inside and the garden. Everyone was absolutely delighted with the location and we had the most fantastic time.

I would wholeheartedly recommend booking Cholwell Hall, it ticked every box and was a truly wonderful experience
